Violence could happen

Who We Are

Our society has become sharply divided and antagonistic, driving fear and hostility to historic proportions. Crime, danger, and personal violence have soared in places many Americans had long deemed “safe.”

Despite the many rising divisions in our country, most people share one common goal: to enjoy free, happy lives for themselves and their loved ones. This desire spans all income levels, occupations, ethnicities, ages, and walks of life.

Seaside Krav Maga can be your trusted guide to self-protection for everyone to take control and protect what matters.

Our highly experienced instructors teach practical and proven self-protection principles, skills, and strategies that provide the advantage of trained preparation when confronted with violence. Psychologist Abraham Maslow once said: “To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” Seaside Krav Maga doesn’t share that tunnel vision, one size fits all approach when it comes to self-defense. Instead, our street-effective tools are tailored to fit each person’s abilities—no matter one’s age, gender, fitness level, physical limitations, or background. Our Krav Maga training adapts to the individual, not the other way around.

Seaside Krav Maga is an affiliate of the highly respected Israeli Krav Maga Association (I.K.M.A.).

Instructors

Founder, Head Instructor

Ted Dabbs

Ted Dabbs has nearly 30 years of experience in the martial arts and fitness industry. Ted is a double Black Belt in both Tae Kwon Do and Heiho Shin Do Jiu-Jitsu, beginning his martial arts instruction in 1991 and earning his first Black Belt in November 1998.

Ted holds a master’s degree in Exercise Science and has taught Physical Education for grades 6-12 in the public school system. Over the past 2-1/2 decades, he has also coached at Division 1 universities, worked as a personal trainer, served as a company security specialist, and been a private investigator. For the past 16 years, Ted has owned and taught (as Chief Instructor) at the Seaside Dojo School of Martial arts, helping children and adults develop their skill level, self-discipline, and fitness.

Over his lifetime, Ted has steadfastly remained an advocate for personal protection, believing that martial arts are a proven pathway to self-awareness and physical well-being. However, he also realized that skills in traditional martial arts may not be as effective for self-defense on the street. These beliefs led directly to the opening of Seaside Krav Maga, a studio which equips everyday people with the practical knowledge and tools needed to protect themselves against potential violent encounters.

Krav Maga Specialist & Instructor

Chris Anderheggen

Chris was recruited specifically to help operate Seaside Krav Maga’s reality-based self-defense program. A lifelong martial artist and self-protection specialist (Black belt in Tae Kwon Do under Hee Il Cho and S.J. Kim, Master class gun shooter certified by the International Defensive Pistol Association), Chris possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Krav Maga. In fact, he was trained and received instructor certifications from three of the most respected leaders in Krav Maga: Britt Soden, the only Worldwide Krav Maga black belt in CT. David Kahn, Chief Instructor of the Israeli Krav Maga Association (and student of Haim Gidon). And Nir Maman, retired Commander of the Israeli Defense Forces Counter-Terror School’s Krav Maga training program.

In addition to his Krav Maga skills, Chris is a patient teacher who believes that since every student is different, it is imperative that the system be tailored to fit the physical abilities of the individual.
